““Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.
…Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live.
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:1-11)
Some thoughts for today: 29 April 2020
Within this text God is inviting us to draw close to Him. He is inviting everyone that is thirsty. Maybe for quite some time you were too busy to draw close to Him. You were on a chase after money which you thought would satisfy you. Now after some time you have to admit, all the things you had gathered did not satisfy.
During this time of lock-down, we can return to Him and draw close. How do we draw closer to Him? He gives us the way; to seek Him and to call on Him. In which way can one seek the Holy One? To forsake any wicked way and thought.
- Is there still something you are clinging to that is wicked? (outward sin)
- Are there still any thoughts in you that are unrighteous? (inward sin)
- We have a promise that if we forsake these things, He will accept us. God says, now is the time of grace that He will accept us and will pardon our sins. His Blood cleanses us, and He grants us power to overcome sin. He is able to break the chains of habitual sin. Have you asked Him to do that?
Friend are you using your time to obtain His forgiveness? Your eternity will depend on this. It might be that everything came to a stand-still, so that you will have this time. Use it!
