I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other. (John 15:15-17)
Within these words of Christ, we notice that He calls his followers His friends. We read in the Bible that God also referred to Abraham and Moses as his friends. To Abraham, he did not withhold that He was on the way to punish Sodom and Gomorrah for their sins. To Moses, God spoke face to face as with a friend. Do you have this relationship with Him that He will also call you His friend? A friendship takes time; time to be in God’s presence. Time to study His word and to pray. When last have you poured out your heart to Him? When last did you have contact with Him?
