Feed My Lambs

Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” (John 21:15)

Thoughts for today: 15 May 2020

Peter had failed. He denied his Lord. Yet Jesus provided him with breakfast on the shore. After they had eaten Jesus asked Peter if he love His Lord. Peter is broken. He knew he had failed. Yet he did love Jesus, but confessed, – only as a friend. Jesus point to His lambs and said, “feed My lambs”. The Great Shepherd had shown Peter by example how to pick someone up to encourage him. He gave him a breakfast. Jesus took time to help Peter up. Peter was beyond grief over what he had done. He was in need of his Savior, to forgive him and to cleanse him. It is easy for us humans to do something for the person that can return a favor. Yet, our love and devotion are tested if we tend those that are weak in the faith. Maybe there is someone close by that is struggling… a little lamb. Give it encouragement and nourishment from God’s Word, that it may grow strong. Guide the lamb back to the Great Shepherd. You also know where and how you have received help.

– feed My lambs!
