You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matt 5:14-16)
Thoughts for today: 17 May 2020
These words of Jesus to his disciples contains an urgent message for today. Jesus knows the darkness of our world. Yet He has an answer; He has enabled His disciples to bring light.
We have a duty to fulfill.
Currently because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are anxious and depressed. Some are in dire need. Yet, this ‘dark time’ also yields ample opportunity for us to provide light. Maybe a telephone call to encourage someone and hear how they are doing. Or to leave a food parcel at the door of a needy family. There are many things that we can do to bring hope to those around us. Good things that will help them to see the Light and give praises to God.
