Let love be without hypocrisy. (Rom 12:9)
In this letter of Paul to the church in Rome, he provides instruction. During the time, Nero, emperor of Rome took to the task of murdering Christians in the cruelest ways imagined. Yet, Paul charges the Christians to love with a godly love. This godly love is without hypocrisy. It is a life of giving oneself to one’s neighbor unreservedly. This love, however, is not sensual and earthly, but heavenly. John, who used to be called a son of thunder, was changed to the disciple whom God loves. We are to love our neighbor without hypocrisy. We are to do so, and by that conquer hate and grudges. Perfect love drives away fear.
