On the 23 October 2024, CYPSA hosted its Annual General Meeting.
The meeting commenced with a short devotion from Matthew 26:7, where all in attendance were encouraged to hold nothing back in serving God and others, but that rather, like the woman with the alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, we should give all that we have in our service.
The breaking of the jar containing the perfume could not be reversed and likewise, we should commit ourselves to God’s calling in our lives with the same total dedication and commitment.
The Secretary of the organization presented and overview of the activities of the organization over the past 12 months which included outreaches to 667 schools in South Africa and Namibia during 2024, with approximately 310,498 learners and 7,499 teachers having been addressed as part of the CYPSA Drug Prevention Program which is now formally registered with the Department of Social Development.
The Chairperson presented a speech during which he advised that CYPSA had made various written and oral submissions to Parliament on the BELA Bill and Cannabis for Private Purposes Bill in 2024, and that an open letter to all members of the South African Parliament had also been published in order to highlight issues and concerns surrounding this legislation.
The Chairperson further advised that more than 20,000 pamphlets were printed and distributed at the 667 schools visited during 2024, free of charge.
The Chairperson concluded his address by confirming that the organization had again achieved a clean audit for the past financial year, as has been the case every year since the organization was registered and that the audited financials were available for inspection.
Refreshments were served at the conclusion of the meeting.
