If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. (John 15:6-8)
Thoughts for today: 3 May 2020
Within this text we read the reason for the withering away. Our old nature is rebellious towards God. It goes against our flesh to remain under His authority. Our old Adam wants to do his own thing. Is this not maybe the reason for your withering? You thought you could manage your drug use, but you moved away and became withered. The withering is a process taking place. The final end is a dead branch that falls away, and which is thrown into the fire. Are you maybe in this process of withering? The final end is then before you; – spiritual death. While there is still life in you, even though not much, why don’t you return to Him? Confess your moving away from Him. Then draw close to Him and to bear fruit to His glory. It is in the losing of our lives that we gain life. Go, and live for Him!
