Last And First Places

And He sat down, and called the twelve and said unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. (Mark 9:35)

These words of Jesus cuts through all human pride and ego. Jesus, although holding the highest position in heaven with his Father, put it all aside to come and seek for a lost mankind. Humility became his trademark. This same trait characterises his followers. However, Jesus had to teach his disciples this truth; seeking for importance disqualifies one for being used by God. May we never be disqualified in this way.
